What a beautiful exhausting day!
I gotta tell you, I ended up with blisters hauling this thing around all day, but it was super worth it! I had an amazing day MCing the event!
In case you didn't know, or haven't read my previous posts about the Fibrations festival, it's a local event put on by Knotty by Nature, a local fiber store. Ryan and Steph and members of the community (like myself) come together to create the magical fiber day!
There's dozens of vendors, and every year I get to meet a lot of amazing and talented people. It's a fantastic blast!
The (highly white, upper end of middle aged) community out in full force at the event! There were so many people this year! Maybe not the most ever, but I was so happy with the turn out!
Anyway, it was an amazing day! I was given a bunch of gifts from just wonderful vendors simply for being a great MC and information person!
Here's a photo of all the goodies I picked up!
The black and rainbow is called "Unicorn Farts" and comes from Spunwareovertherainbow (which is just the best name run by the kindest human!). And she GAVE me this wonderful skein!! I nearly died!
Then there's some books (Zines) by Caitlin Ffrench. She specializes in botanical dyes and inks, for yarn and paper and what have you. KBN paid half the fee for me to be able to take her class, and it was spectacular! I learned so much and now have some inks and watercolors made from all natural materials like seeds, barks, pieces of iron and metals!
Then Christian from Hypnoknits gave me the patch. You can't read it but it says "There is no gender in fiber craft" and it makes my heart soar!
Then I got this incredible coloring books from a vendors husband. He loves making coloring books! And I love coloring! So he gave me these! And then I bought an enamel pin from Black Cat yarns<3 p=""> and small bundled yarn there from Black Cat Yarns. The yarn is called "Unicorn Farts" as well haha!
Then I bought the little yarn crafting octopus enamel pin because it was just waaaay too cute not to.
The pink Joma yarn (now Subculture Yarn) was part of a project, where the proceeds went to help someone... with.. something... I forget, but as soon as I saw her post about it, I knew I needed to pick it up, to help the cause and to get this gorgeous pink!
Then I won the rest of the things! The amazing "Lite Brite" by Black Cat Yarns, two random crochet bowls (I felt bad for the artist as they did not have many tickets for their item), a bag of knit baby items (so do not remember entering for this... pretty sure the tickets got mixed up but whatever haha).
I also picked up a quilted pillow from Rosalie, a friend of Dela's (and honestly myself) for Lex's mom Cathy for xmas!
So yeah, just one of the best Fibrations yet! Can't wait for next year!3>

Fibrations! 2014
Admittedly, I have been falling behind in my yarn bombing.
Between school and become interested in making bigger or more themed things, as opposed to the small or abstract yarn bombs I have previously been doing. I want to do more things like the picnic I did for INYBD.
But that takes time and resources, which is getting harder as school goes on ( more and more work load).
So technically this isn't a yarnbomb, but I did take my new Mario Mushroom 8-bit blanket to Fibrations to show it off!

Some other people took pictures of it too, so I think it was well received.
The festival itself was super fun. I wandered around, talked with Dela, had some free tea. It was great.
I can't wait for next year!

Fibrations 2013
Wow. It is hard to believe that this festival has been going on for three years. Each year it gets bigger and bigger.
Although this year, while I saved up money to participate in the raffle, there wasn't really anything I wanted. Some vendors (while there were many new ones) weren't around this year.
The good news was that my friend Danika got to come with me this year.
You may remember the first year at Fibrations and last years.
So as you know, I have been SUPER busy working on my pieces for the Integrate Arts Festival happening this Friday. This meant that I didn't really have the time to work on anything for Fibrations. So I grabbed some spare swatches that I had been given and used that as an impromptu yarn bomb.
This lovely swatch was created by the lovely Dela, and placed on this lovely tree by me.
In the background of this one (this is all at St.Ann's Acedemy in Victoria BC), you can see this wonderful stone castle battleship thing that is simply imagination fuel. I enjoy it when ever I visit the acedemy.
I love Fibrations. No where else can you see so many people into yarn and fiber crafts. Makes me want to be more apart of the yarn community.

Fibrations 2012
I'm tired everyone.
I walked around the Fibrations festival for a few hours today. I ran into a lot of people I haven't seen for a long time and in some cases, not since last year.
Anyway, the first amazing thing that happened was that I went over to the demo booth, and who should be displaying there but Nerdigurumi! Ever since I found their site through looking for a Bioshock Big Daddy pattern, I have visited it often to see what other new awesome patterns they will create (they also have an amazing Prince from Katamari that I have posted on my Katamari tumblr!) So you can imagine what it was liking meeting the actual creator behind these amazing creations.
After that wonderful experience, I ran across the Knotty by Nature table and talked with owner Ryan. We discussed hand spinning. I would love to get into it, but first I wanna tackle felting.
There were a lot of tables focusing on felting.
Then I wandered around the festival looking for my friend Dela. I met Dela last year at the festival. She was teaching the Tunisian crochet demo. To celebrate the fact that I have known Dela for a whole year, I made her a wall crochet coral reef.
I love making these things. Thankfully, they are as well recieved by the people that I make them for. Dela loved her reef. And she gave me a small tuniscian crochet hook too!
Dela is such a wonderful woman.
After a while, I met up with my friends and we visited a bunch more booths and learned more about fibre and fibre arts. Also, since it was in an orchard, we snagged a bunch of apples so I can make pie.
I did two yarn bombs while I was at the festival as well.
The first, before I actually got to the festival, but was on St. Ann's Academy grounds, I threw up into a tree. It was the rainbow bolas that I made ages ago!
Finally put it up. I meant to do it for Pride this year, but I was deathly ill, so that didn't happen. Instead, it made it's way into this tree today!
Second one was just after my friends and I left the festival. We were at a stop light waiting for it to change and my friend Brandy suggested I throw it into the tree above us. It worked out sorta well.
Not exactly where I wanted, but bolas never do go where I want them.
Either way, I had a crazy great day! Fibrations 2012 was an amazing success.

Fibrations
I grabbed the community newspaper out of the lobby in my building on the way home friday. I grabbed it because there was an interesting article on the front cover. There also happened to be a couple other interesting articles throughout the paper, including one on an up coming fibre festival called Fibrations.
The festival was today. I went about an hour into when it had started and I stayed for a couple hours.
There were a lot of great booths, and vendors, and people showing how to do things.
(this one woman was showing how to upcycle t-shirts to yarn, and she did it waaaaaaay better than any tutorial I have seen online)
I spent most of my time there following this one woman around though. She was teaching tunisian crochet. Once I learned how to do that, I think my brain exploded. Her name is Dela Wilkins. I met a lot of amazing people at the festival. A lot of ladies there -laugh-.
I also realized I need to use my Ravelry more. And the my social skills could use a little work.
Anyway, in honor of the fact that I was at a fibre festival, I decided to tag the tree that my bike was locked to for the duration of the festival.
You can see some of the vendors in the background.
I had so much fun!
