Easter Egg Hunt in the Park!

I really enjoy yarnbombing for occasion. I don't really care what occasion, it just seems like a great way to come up with a theme to yarnbomb.

This year, I started early on easter eggs and managed to make 11! (I have so much school going on right now, it's hard to get any crafting done)

I decided to leave them around a local park for the kids. The weather hasn't been that great, so I was worried about them getting wet, but it's been reasonably dry today. I'm going to go back to the park after easter weekend is over to see if any of the eggs remain.

I tagged a couple of them with my url, so that people could maybe come read about the eggs!

The first one I hid was this bright yellow one, on the tennis court.

It's like a tennis ball! But it really wouldn't work very well as a tennis ball.
The next one I hid in a tree!

Cause that's where eggs come from right? :)

Spot the egg in this one!
It's the same kind of colors as the climbing-go-round.

Cute teeter tooter and swing set eggs

I put one in this strange digging dish. You can see the hand digger in the background.
I don't know if you can put the ground dirt in the dish with the digger, but those digger's were super fun when I was a kid.

This adorable red egg was one of my favorites.

Here it is in the wheel (tire?) swing!

I really enjoy this cute lil bench one.

Lastly, this rail egg.

Technically, there are two eggs in this picture :)

Well, that's about it! I had fun leaving these eggs all over the park! I hope they found happy homes. They were a blast to make too. Happy Bunny Chocolate Day!

International Yarnbombing Day 2014

Hello! And welcome to another amazing edition of International Yarn Bombing Day!!!

I will admit, this event is getting less and less attention as the years go by, but I still enjoy doing it! 2011 was my first year, where I just tagged a dozen things. Then the next year, 2012 was the epic picnic! Then 2013 was the Adventure time piece in the park, and this year is....

Pokemon!

Ok, so I originally wanted to do the original 150 Pokemon! But that got hard really quick with school and relationships and everything else life throws at you, so here's the 16 or so Pokemon I did make, and some pokeballs.

First there is Cubone in the grass

Then Diglett and Dugtrio in the dirt so they can dig around!

Then Electrode was looking for electricty at this lamp post

These Exeggcute are just looking for some fun

Ghastly is just hanging around this tree

Grimer is happiest where there is garbage and gunk

Jigglypuff will sing to you as you relax in the park

Koffing is hanging around outside the Men's room, enjoying the weird smells emanating from within

Magickarp doesn't do so well outside of water, so I put them in the water fountain

Ninetails was just prancing around the field

Tiny Oddish!

(their little leaves were felt)

Shellder needed a drink

Voltorb needed a jolt too!

One of my personal favorites was this adorable Weepingbell. I hung it from a tree!

And Weezing was hanging out with Koffing by the Women's room.

I also made a Cloyster (which I kept cause it ended up looking epic and I seriously couldn't part with it) and several of the eveevolutions, that I ended up sending to a friend for their birthday.

All of these pokemon were super small. Like, smaller than your hand in most cases, with Ninetails being the biggest (and taking freaking forever to make!)

Here are some of the Pokeballs that I hid around too. I wanted them to be fun to find, like the Pokemon.

I wish I could have done more, but what I did do was super well received! There were all gone in no time. While some part of me is happy people like them enough to take them home, it would be nice if people left them for other people to enjoy.

Feminist theories have really made yarn bombing difficult on so many levels. But I do so love making crochet things for people to enjoy!

Bonus: Here is the Cloyster I kept

Finn up a Tree

What time is it?!
It's Adventure Time!
Yes, that popular children's (what? Children's show? Have you seen it? I cannot believe it is a children's show) show has wormed its way into my heart.
When I realized I could draw Adventure Time character, I was thrilled.
But when I realized I could crochet them, I nearly died.

I've made a few Adventure time amigurumi's, but this is the first one I've bombed.

It's Finn! He's up a tree (like the strange 4th episode of season 5).

He's located at a local playground. I tried to put him just out of reach so his life span might be longer, but mostly I think he'll go home with some nice child.

I cannot wait to bomb the rest of the characters I have made.

Funny side note, I have had to re-make Jake the Dog three times. The first time, friends of mine came over, and they thought that this one kid in their class (they teach grade school) would absolutely love it. So I let them have it and they gave it to him for Valentines day. Let's just say his grin was from ear to ear. The second one, another friend came over. This one however, didn't even know what Adventure Time was, but liked the "funny little dog", so I let him have it. And today, I finished making another one.

So you have something to look forward to! Especially if you are both a yarnbombing and Adventure time fan!

Monkey madness!

So my good friend Michelle was trying to entertain me today. Her suggestion was to make a speed yarnbomb. And then some how the idea of monkeys got suggested for the monkey bars at a local playground.
So in a quickly 2 and a half hours, I produced this monkey.

And now we are off to bomb said monkey to the playground monkey bars!
I will write more when I return!
***
I have returned!
And I had a really great time! I forget sometimes how much I love playgrounds at night. So different than when it's day out.
Here is my monkey hanging out on the monkey bars.

And Michelle's Orangutan on the monkey bars!

These are our super speedy yarn bomb monkeys.
I am so lucky to have supportive friend who want to encourage me and participate with me in yarn bombing!
I hope you like the monkey madness!

Thirteenth of November: Day 13 of 21 days of Yarn bombing

Hey everybody.
I did better today!
I went back to day 10's pole tag in the playground. I was very happy to still find it there.

And so I added more to it.

One day I would love to be able to keep coming back to a tag and add to it (like yarnattacks 21 days project), but for now I will settle for adding another pole tag above day 10s.

The flowers were also still on the fence.

I hope all the kids like them tomorrow when they go to school.

Tenth of November: Day ten of 21 days of Yarn bombing

Hey! You're never going to believe this!
Not only are all of day 5 (except that one we already knew was missing) and day 6's flowers still at the school...

But someone added their own little poppy to the mix!
I'm really glad they a) liked the flowers and b) enough to add their own art to it.

Kids are great.
Anyway, on to day 10!
Ok, originally, I had big plans for today. Then city workers came along and fixed the pole I intended on tagging, so now I am with out a pole. -sigh-
I will keep my eye open, but likely I will end up bombing it outside these 21 days of awesome.

In the mean time, here is day 10's beautiful tag.

I went back to the playground that hosts the wonderful little flowers and did this pole cover on part of the structure.

I really hope the kids like this too.

See you back for day 11!

Seventh of November: Day seven of 21 day of Yarnbombing

It's raining.
I gotta tell you, raining makes it difficult to yarn bomb. Not impossible, just a little uncomfortable.
Anyway, I stopped by the playground on my way home from school.

I thought there would be more elements at the playground to bomb, but there was surprisingly little.

But I made do.

Either way, it is a miserable day outside.
I'm going to curl up on the couch and do some more prep for the rest of these 21 days of November.
